Encountering Asia book group forming

Registration is under way for “Encountering Asia,” a four-part book discussion series co-sponsored by the Lawrence Public Library, Kansas Humanities Council and the Center for East Asian Studies at Kansas University.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday evenings at the library, 707 Vt. Books will be provided, and there is no charge. Registration is required and is limited to 30 participants.

The discussions planned will be “Waiting,” by Ha Jin, April 5; “The Chinese Gold Murders,” by Robert Van Gulik, April 19; “Memoirs of a Geisha,” by Arthur Golden, May 3, and “An Artist of the Floating World,” by Kazuo Ishiguro on May 17.
