Commission to discuss district’s road fees

Douglas County commissioners plan a public hearing tonight on proposed special fees for residents in the Hesper Charter Road Improvement District.

Commissioners will conduct the hearing acting as the district’s board of directors. The Eudora Township and residents earlier this year requested the county take over road maintenance in the Hesper district. The hearing will be at 6:35 p.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass.

The county plans to issue bonds to pay for construction of chip-sealed roadways and drainage replacements. Including bond costs, the project will cost $255,160. District residents will be notified how much they will be assessed for the project and how much they will be assessed for road maintenance in 2007.

The following roads are included in the project:

¢ North 1100 Road: from East 2200 Road east about 8,900 feet.

¢ North 1137 Road: all in the Hesper Heights subdivision.

¢ East 2300 Road: from North 1100 north about 2,640 feet.

¢ East 2300: from North 1100 south about 1,320 feet.
