GREENSBURG ? A variety store employee here is believed to have fatally shot his co-worker then killed himself, authorities said.

The bodies of 29-year-old Matthew Towner and 26-year-old Alicia Huebler were found at Duckwall’s in this southern Kansas town late Friday. Kiowa County Sheriff Galen Marble said autopsy results indicate Towner shot Huebler in the head and then shot himself.

“Everything at this point indicates a murder-suicide,” Marble said.

Authorities said the gun belonged to a relative of Towner’s and that the motive was still a mystery.

“There was nothing in there to indicate any problem between them or any close attachment between them,” Marble said.
