GED commencement set for today

The Lawrence district’s Adult Learning Center will stage its annual GED commencement service at 7 p.m. today at Free State High School, 4700 Overland Drive.

About 20 students are expected to take part in the ceremony.

“We have 87 who are graduating, but, typically, a lot have conflicts and aren’t able to make it,” said center facilitator Linda McGuire.

Plans call for graduating senior Sarah Richardson and 2003 GED graduate Mitzi Robinson to address the assembly. Robinson graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University last month.

GED diplomas are issued through the Kansas Board of Regents.
