Law enforcement report

¢ Douglas County Sheriff’s officers and Eudora Police officers believe there was no foul play involved as they conducted a death investigation Friday afternoon northeast of Eudora, Douglas County Undersheriff Steve Hornberger said. Hornberger said officers investigated the unattended death of a person to follow department policy. The county coroner will perform an autopsy either this weekend or early next week, the undersheriff said.

¢ Lawrence Police arrested a Leavenworth man early Thursday on a federal warrant after being called to the Cadillac Ranch, 2515 W. Sixth St., to a report of a restraining-order violation. A 21-year-old woman at the bar reported that the man had come to the bar for the second straight week in possible violation of a restraining order. When officers arrived, they contacted him and found the man, Jeffrey M. Fraser, 23, was wanted by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

According to court records, Fraser is charged with illegally having a 9 mm pistol on June 9 while being the subject of a restraining order.

¢ A 35-year-old Lawrence man was knocked unconscious and suffered internal injuries in a fight about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Haskell Avenue, according to a report. The man may have been jumped by a group of five people when he tried to intervene in an argument, according to witness statements in a police report.

He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was alert and able to give a statement to police but was later transported to a Kansas City-area hospital.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ US Bank, 3500 W. Sixth St., reported $2,000 embezzled on June 16. Two people are listed as suspects.

¢ A 27-year-old Lawrence man reported two separate burglaries between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon from his trailer in the 1900 block of West 31st Street. He told police more than $4,000 in items were stolen, including an assortment of concrete tools.

Injury accident

¢ A Lawrence woman was injured Thursday afternoon in a wreck at Clinton Parkway and Kasold Drive.

Sherry M. Chaney, 36, was going south on Kasold Drive about 4:50 p.m. when her Nissan Sentra was struck by an eastbound Honda Accord driven by Robert L. Walters, 68, Lawrence. Walters was cited for a traffic-signal violation. Chaney, who was wearing a seat belt, went to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
