Law enforcement report
¢ Police on Friday arrested a 20-year-old Lawrence man suspected of stabbing a 19-year-old man in the neck during a fight downtown that a police report said was related to a “juvenile gang.”
The fight happened shortly after 11 p.m. in the 900 block of Massachusetts after a group of people standing on the side of the street exchanged words with people in a car that was stopped at a red light, according to a report.
The victim left before police could contact him, and witnesses would not give police his name. Officers later identified him and learned his mother had taken him to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police arrested Adam C. Barry, 20, of Lawrence, for aggravated battery.
A form on a police report indicated the fight was related to a “juvenile gang,” but LPD spokeswoman Kim Murphree said the narrative portion of the officer’s report didn’t provide more details about what that meant.
