Professor invited to exhibit in Spain

A professor in Kansas University’s School of Fine Arts will soon travel to Spain to present a solo exhibition.

Gerald Lubensky, KU professor of painting, will present a July exhibit titled “Jerry Lubensky-Pinturas” at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo of la Puebla de Cazalla in Seville. He will show 15 large paintings from his collection, all created in the last decade.

Lubensky was personally invited to exhibit in Seville after traveling to Spain last summer and presenting his works to the mayor. Lubensky’s works are inspired and informed by Spanish Flamenco music, and his solo exhibition will coincide with the Festival de Cante, which celebrates Flamenco singing.

Lubensky has taught in the art department for 37 years.

The exhibit at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo of la Puebla de Cazalla will run from July 6 to July 18. For more information, call 864-4401.
