Thousands of teen girls audition for Harry Potter film

London – Thousands of teenage girls waited patiently in long lines to audition Saturday for a role in the next Harry Potter film.

The girls, aged 13 to 16, were trying out for the part of trainee wizard Luna Lovegood in “Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.”

In the book, Luna is described as being an unusual character who is considered somewhat of an outsider by her classmates. With her wand tucked behind her ear for safekeeping and a necklace of corks, the 14-year-old wizard often appears somewhat detached from what is going on around her.

The successful auditioner will join cast members Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry; Emma Watson, who is Hermione Granger; and Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley.

First in line outside Westminster Central Hall in London was Kim Allen, 15, who said she had been waiting in line since 11 p.m. Friday.

“I desperately want the part. I check the Harry Potter Web site every day and saw the auditions advertised on there.”

Only British and Irish citizens were being auditioned, and each hopeful had to identify herself with a passport or birth certificate, and a proof of address.

Filings in Cosby’s sexual assault suit to remain sealed

Philadelphia – Certain legal filings in the sexual assault lawsuit filed against comedian Bill Cosby will remain sealed for now.

The decision, ruled Friday by U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno Jr., covers some documents that contain extensive portions of depositions by Cosby and his accuser.

The Associated Press had sought to have the documents unsealed, a motion supported by the plaintiff.

The AP has not decided whether to appeal as of Friday.

The 68-year-old Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting the plaintiff at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in early 2004. Attorneys for Cosby say the comedian gave the woman Benadryl after she complained of stress and sleeping problems.

Cosby’s attorney said in court earlier this week that the woman wants the documents made public only to release “incriminating” and “salacious” information before the trial.

But the woman’s attorneys contend that Cosby has given at least three media interviews about the case and joked about it during a performance, yet has managed to keep secret damaging court filings.

Robreno previously denied Cosby’s request for a gag order and the plaintiff’s request to shield the names of 12 other women who say Cosby assaulted them.

The plaintiff, who is in her mid-30s, once worked at Temple University but now lives in her native Ontario, Canada. She is identified in court documents, but The Associated Press does not publish names of alleged sexual assault victims without their consent.

No trial date has been set in the civil lawsuit.

Actress Elisabeth Shue pregnant with third child

Los Angeles – Elisabeth Shue can leave Las Vegas but apparently she can’t get out of the nursery.

Shue is pregnant with her third child, US Weekly reported Friday on its Web site, citing her manager, David Seltzer.

Calls to Seltzer and Shue’s publicist by The Associated Press were not immediately returned Friday night.

Shue was to have started filming a Joel Schumacher thriller called “Number 23” but has dropped out of the project because of her pregnancy, US Weekly said.

Shue, 42, received an Oscar nomination for her role in 1995’s “Leaving Las Vegas.”

She and her husband, Davis Guggenheim, have an 8-year-old son, Miles, and a 4-year-old daughter, Stella.
