KU Opera to perform difficult ‘Falstaff’

KU Opera presents Giuseppe Verdi’s rollicking comedy “Falstaff” – for the first time in 27 years because of its demanding score.

The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26, Jan. 28, Jan. 31, Feb. 2 and Feb. 4 in the Robert Baustian Theatre in Murphy Hall.

When the larger-than-life and cash-strapped Sir John Falstaff decides to write identical love letters to two wealthy women -and those women compare notes – an uproarious plot of revenge ensues. Then there’s a hotly jealous husband, two love-sick kids, a crazy doctor, disguises and mistaken identities.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $7 for students and seniors. Call 864-3982 or 864-2787 to buy them in advance.
