GOP challenger may enter governor’s race

Ken Canfield, founder and president of the National Center for Fathering in Overland Park, is exploring seeking the Republican nomination for governor.

Canfield announced Thursday that he had appointed Wayne Bridges, of Overland Park, as campaign treasurer.

He will meet with members of his exploratory committee and decide whether to run sometime in the next two weeks, said Kim Smith, a member of the exploratory committee.

He is originally from Wichita and earned a bachelor’s degree from Friends University and a doctorate in education from Kansas State University. He founded the National Center for Fathering in 1990.
