Law enforcement report

¢ A 20-year-old Oskaloosa man was formally charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court with one count of aggravated sexual battery for a July 2005 incident involving a 17-year-old victim. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects in sex crimes unless they have been convicted.

Injury accidents

¢ A Lawrence teen was injured Thursday in Leavenworth County when her car ran off the road and rolled over in a creek bed.

Shadoe Barton, 18, was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after she suffered disabling injuries, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. A condition report was unavailable Thursday night.

Barton was driving a 1996 Dodge Neon at 3 p.m. north on U.S. Highway 24-40 near 243rd Street. She tried to pass a dump truck and her vehicle left the road, according to the report. The car went into the west ditch before it entered the creek bed. She was wearing her seat belt.

¢ Johnson County Sheriff’s officers were responding to an accident at 11 p.m. Thursday near De Soto. The exact location and information about any possible injuries were unavailable late Thursday as officers remained on the scene investigating, a sheriff’s officer said.
