A broken waterline at the intersection of Miller Drive and Maple Lane in east Lawrence will keep Maple Lane closed for much of the day, city utility officials said this morning.

The line broke earlier this morning, and city utility crews have been working since to correct the problem.

They will lay a new line across Maple Lane, and officials said it should be patched with metal plates in time for the afternoon rush hour.

It is possible that a section of Miller Drive will also be closed for part of this morning as well.
