Hillary joins stiff crowd at Tussauds’ wax museum
New York – Add Hillary Rodham Clinton to the pantheon of luminaries immortalized in Madame Tussauds’ wax museum.
A figure of the former first lady-turned-senator had been on Tussauds’ visitor request list for “a long, long time,” museum manager Janine DiGioacchino said. But the looming Presidents Day holiday and the buzz surrounding Clinton’s possible 2008 presidential bid sped up her addition to the collection.
The Clinton statue, crafted at the original Tussauds museum in London, took its place Thursday in a wing dedicated to presidents and other public figures known as “the gallery.”
There, the likeness of the Democratic senator joins statues of Presidents Bush, Reagan, Kennedy, and her husband, Bill Clinton.
Paparazzi have new mom Spears feeling housebound
New York – Still smarting from the shot seen ’round the world, Britney Spears says she rarely takes her baby son, Sean Preston, outside because she fears pushy paparazzi.
“I don’t really go out with him,” Spears told People magazine in its Feb. 27 issue. “And it’s kind of sad because I can’t walk down the street with a stroller. I’m not expecting people to pity me. I’m just telling the truth.”
“I’ve pulled over and asked the cops, ‘Could you please help me? They’ve been driving recklessly back there.’ And they say, ‘Sorry ma’am, I can’t help you. This is how it Is.’ I mean, Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. They’re crossing the line.”
Last week, photos were published of Spears driving with her 4-month-old son sitting in her lap rather than strapped in a car seat in the back seat. She blamed aggressive behavior by the paparazzi, but conceded later it was a “mistake.”
Lisa Marie weds musician
Los Angeles – Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock ‘n’ roll king Elvis Presley, has married guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood in a ceremony in Kyoto, Japan, her publicist said Thursday.
Presley, 38, and Lockwood exchanged vows in a traditional Japanese ceremony on Jan. 22, spokesman Paul Bloch said.
It was Presley’s fourth marriage. She was previously married to Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson and Danny Keough, who is the father of her two children.
The bride’s mother, actress Priscilla Presley, walked her daughter down the aisle and gave her away, Bloch said.
Daughter Riley Keough was maid of honor and son Benjamin Keough was a groomsman.
The best man was Presley’s first husband, Danny Keough.
Also attending the wedding were Lockwood’s parents, Vivian and William Lockwood.
Lockwood was Presley’s musical director and is listed as executive producer on her 2005 album, “Now What.”
Presley lives in the Los Angeles area, but Bloch said he didn’t know where the couple planned to live.
