Sports-complex study reconsidered
Lawrence City Commission agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org
Bottom line
City commissioners will consider a request from Partners in Lawrence Athletics and Youth to fund a portion of a study that would examine the feasibility of a new multiuse sports complex.
Background
City commissioners have heard the request before, but said they wanted either the school district or the county commission to take the lead on the project. The school district recently agreed to fund 40 percent of the cost of the study, which is expected to be between $50,000 and $70,000. At a recent study session, commissioners agreed to reconsider the request. No location, cost or details for the actual sports complex have been determined yet.
