Anini, Hawaii ? Tourists from Kansas and California drowned over the weekend while trying to save the Kansas man’s wife.

The men were identified as Glenn Manning, of Wichita, Kan., and Ronald Rowlett, of Vacaville, Calif. Both men were in their 50s.

Safety personnel used a jet ski to rescue the woman Sunday afternoon after she got caught in a riptide about 100 feet off the shore of the island of Kauai. The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital for observation, the Fire Department said.
