Home lost to fire

Honolulu – Fire destroyed the rented home of “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly in coastal Kailua on Oahu island Wednesday, officials said. Lilly was not at home, and no one was injured.

Two roommates were also not home when the fire broke out sometime after 6:30 a.m., authorities said. Investigators were searching for a cause.

“Unfortunately, it is true that the home she rented in Hawaii did burn down this morning,” Lilly’s publicist Cara Tripicchio said in an e-mail.

“Evangeline was on set already when the fire occurred and luckily, her roommates were not in the house either.

The home was “fully involved” in flames when firefighters arrived, said Capt. Kenison Tejada, spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Department.

Only the roof and a couple of interior walls were left standing, and most of the contents of the home were destroyed, he said.

Lilly plays Kate on the hit ABC drama, which films in Hawaii.

MADD drops Miss Teen USA

Los Angeles – Mothers Against Drunk Driving is mad at Miss Teen USA.

The group said Wednesday that it was “disappointed” by reports of hard partying by 18-year-old Katie Blair and Miss USA Tara Conner – and is cutting ties with Blair.

In the past, MADD has teamed with Miss Teen USA to raise awareness about the serious and often deadly consequences of underage drinking. However, we do not feel, at this time, that Ms. Blair can be an effective spokesperson on underage drinking and will not ask her to represent MADD in future initiatives,” Heidi Castle, a spokeswoman for MADD, said in a statement.

Conner on Tuesday tearfully admitted drinking at New York nightclubs as a minor; she turned 21 on Monday. Donald Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Organization, which includes Miss Teen USA and Miss USA, said he would allow Conner to keep her crown if she settles down and enters alcohol rehab.
