Boston – After three years of dating, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and actress Bridget Moynahan are free to play the field again.
A publicist for Moynahan on Friday confirmed the celebrity couple have broken up.
The 29-year-old Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP who has led the Patriots to three NFL titles, was named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” in 2002. The 35-year-old Moynahan has appeared in films such as “Coyote Ugly” and is currently on the ABC television series “Six Degrees.”
Anna Nicole Smith in court over late husband’s estate
San Francisco – Anna Nicole Smith arrived Friday at a federal courthouse in San Francisco to continue her legal battle over her late husband’s fortunes.
At issue is the will of oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall III, which did not include Smith. She has argued he intended to provide for her through a special trust.
David Madden, a spokesman for the court, said Smith was at the building, which houses the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, for a mediation hearing.
The case made its way all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which revived the former Playboy playmate’s pursuit of her late husband’s estate by ruling she deserved another day in court.
Smith initially won a $474 million judgment that was cut to about
$89 million and eventually reduced to zero before the Supreme Court stepped in.
Marshall died in 1995 at age 90, a year after they married. Smith was 26 when they wed.
Prince William gets his army commission
London – Prince William was commissioned as an army officer on Friday, and shared the spotlight at the ceremony with his girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
The two have been a couple since William’s university days, and speculation about their future is a continuing subject of speculation.
With grandmother Queen Elizabeth II addressing the new second lieutenants and father Prince Charles taking the salute, William was one face in a crowd of cadets participating in “passing out” ceremonies at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, following a 44-week commissioning course.
William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, was commissioned at a similar ceremony earlier this year. Both of the young royals were assigned to the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry.
Natalee Holloway’s parents sue former suspects in case
Los Angeles – The parents of an Alabama teen who disappeared last year while on a trip to Aruba with classmates filed a wrongful death suit Thursday against two brothers who were once suspects in the case – a day after the brothers sued the “Dr. Phil” show.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Beth Twitty and Dave Holloway, claims that Deepak and Satish Kalpoe “intentionally, negligently, wantonly” caused fatal injuries to their daughter, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. The couple is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.
An after-hours call to the Kalpoe brothers’ attorney was not returned Thursday.
The wrongful death lawsuit came a day after the Kalpoes, both residents of Aruba, filed suit in Los Angeles against television’s “Dr. Phil” show alleging libel and slander.
The brothers alleged that a private investigator secretly recorded a conversation with Deepak Kalpoe and aired it on the nationally syndicated show.
Natalee Holloway was 18 when she disappeared May 30, 2005, while on a trip to Aruba with fellow Mountain Brook High School graduates.
