Eddie Murphy: Don’t ‘jump to conclusions’

New York – Eddie Murphy and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown may have dated earlier this year, but the actor-comedian is making it clear that he’s not sure if he’s the father of her unborn child.

Murphy, who stars in the upcoming “Dreamgirls” film, was recently asked if he was excited that Brown – known as Scary Spice when she was in the megahit group of the ’90s – was pregnant. She has been photographed recently with an expanding belly.

“So are you happy with her because she’s pregnant with your child?” asks the TV interviewer, apparently referring to Brown.

“Now you’re being presumptuous because we’re not together anymore,” Murphy replies. “And I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”

A clip of the interview was posted Tuesday on the TMZ.com Web site.

Arnold Robinson, a spokesman for Murphy, told The Associated Press he doesn’t comment on Murphy’s personal life.

The AP was attempting Tuesday to find a representative for Brown.

‘Charlie’s Angels’ star completes cancer treatment

Los Angeles – Farrah Fawcett has completed cancer treatment and is doing well, her publicist said Tuesday.

Fawcett, 59, who starred on the ’70s TV series “Charlie’s Angels,” wrapped up several weeks of treatment last week after being diagnosed recently with the disease and going through chemotherapy, said publicist Mike Pingel.

“Her spirits are high, she’s feeling good,” he said. “Her plans are to recover and take the time to heal, and she’s also looking forward to the holidays with her family.”

Pingel wouldn’t disclose the type of cancer Fawcett was treated for, but said her prognosis was good.

Ryan O’Neal, who has a 21-year-old son, Redmond, with Fawcett, told People magazine in October that she had anal cancer.

‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ dress sells for $807,000

London – Audrey Hepburn’s iconic black dress fetched a Tiffany price at auction.

The garment she wore in the 1961 film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” went for $807,000 on Tuesday. The price, paid by a telephone bidder, was almost six times the highest pre-sale estimate.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the charity City of Joy Aid, which helps India’s poor. The founders of the charity had received the dress as a gift from designer Hubert de Givenchy.

“I am absolutely dumbfounded to believe that a piece of cloth which belonged to such a magical actress will now enable me to buy bricks and cement to put the most destitute children in the world into schools,” said the co-seller, Dominique Lapierre.
