Eva Longoria, basketball star Tony Parker get engaged

New York – Her marriage didn’t work out on “Desperate Housewives,” but things are looking rosy in real life for Eva Longoria: She’s engaged to her beau, basketball star Tony Parker.

“Tony flew into Los Angeles last night after his game and surprised Eva at her home as she got off work,” Longoria’s publicist, Liza Anderson, told The Associated Press on Thursday via e-mail.

“The proposal was romantic and perfect. The couple plans to wed in France in the summer of 2007 in what they describe as a big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends.”

The 31-year-old Longoria, who plays crafty Gabrielle Solis on the hit ABC show, met Parker, a 24-year-old Frenchman, in the San Antonio Spurs’ locker room after a game two years ago.

Longoria divorced Tyler Christopher, who stars on ABC’s “General Hospital,” in 2004 after two years of marriage.

‘View’ hosts aren’t bothered by DeVito’s drunken behavior

New York – The ladies of “The View” are laughing off Danny DeVito’s loopy behavior during his appearance on the daytime talk show.

“Danny DeVito is not an alcoholic,” co-host Rosie O’Donnell said Thursday. “He’s just a guy who had too many drinks with his friend.”

On Wednesday’s show, the 62-year-old actor admitted he’d had a late night out with George Clooney and said, “I knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get me.”

His words were bleeped out after apparently using some bad language when joking about President Bush, who he’d imitated as a monkey and one of the Three Stooges. He later sat on O’Donnell’s lap, and she kissed him on the cheek.

Sen. Obama, rapper Ludacris talk about empowering youths

Chicago – Barack Obama is coming for that Number One Spot.

The senator, contemplating a run for president, met privately with Ludacris on Wednesday. “We talked about empowering the youth,” said the rapper, whose real name is Chris Bridges.

Ludacris was in town to launch the YouthAIDS “Kick Me” campaign to raise HIV/AIDS awareness during a stop at Northwestern University in the Chicago suburb of Evanston.

They both have won Grammy awards: Obama for readings from his memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” and Luda for his verse on Usher’s “Yeah!”

Ludacris’ latest album, “Release Therapy,” debuted at No. 1 in September. His numerous hits include “Number One Spot” and the current “Moneymaker.” He also has delivered well-reviewed performances in the Oscar-winning film “Crash” and “Hustle & Flow.”

Attorney: Anna Nicole Smith must leave Bahamian mansion

Nassau, Bahamas – A former boyfriend of Anna Nicole Smith has obtained a court judgment ordering the reality TV star out of her oceanfront residence and he plans to seek her forcible eviction, his attorney said Thursday.

But an attorney for Smith, Wayne Munroe, said he secured a temporary stay of the order and his client has no intention of leaving.

Emerick Knowles, the attorney for South Carolina businessman G. Ben Thompson, entered the default judgment Tuesday after Smith missed a deadline to respond to a suit declaring his client the rightful owner of the gated mansion known as “Horizons.”

Munroe appealed to the court, which scheduled a Feb. 19 hearing on whether the default judgment was filed irregularly, he said.

The office of the Supreme Court’s registrar could not be reached despite several phone calls seeking confirmation.
