Law enforcement report
¢ Police arrested 24-year-old Taylor Jay Pratt of Lawrence early Friday morning on suspicion of hitting a 20-year-old Kansas University student in the head with a beer bottle about 11:10 p.m. Thursday at Cadillac Ranch, 2515 W. Sixth St.
¢ Lawrence Police arrested a 27-year-old Lawrence man Friday evening after they were called to investigate his reportedly threatening a woman with a knife.
Officers found that the man at 5:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Wisconsin Street was using a cane that could convert into a sword to threaten the woman, whom he knew, in front of three children, said Sgt. Susan Hadl, a police spokeswoman.
The blade inside the cane was not exposed, and officers arrested him without incident on charges of aggravated assault and making a criminal threat, Hadl said. The man remained in the Douglas County Jail Friday night.
¢ Johnson County sheriff’s officers served a search warrant Thursday on a home in Clearview City southwest of De Soto and arrested two area men on drug-related charges, said Master Deputy Tom Erickson, a sheriff spokesman.
After performing surveillance, officers stormed the house and took four people into custody. Two were later released, Erickson said. James Zimmerman, 45, De Soto, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell methamphetamine, having no drug tax stamp and possession of marijuana, Erickson said.
Johnny Owens, 33, Tonganoxie, was arrested on a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia. Officers did not find evidence of a meth lab inside the residence, Erickson said.
¢ Eudora Police Sgt. Greg Neis found a body Thursday evening in the Eudora City Cemetery, and police have determined that the person died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he said. No foul play is suspected, Neis said, and officers were still waiting on a positive identification Friday.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ 1500 block of Kentucky Street: Nearly $3,000 in property, including a Dell computer, flat-screen TV, DVD player, two watches and a gold chain, was stolen in a forced-entry burglary between 4 p.m. Aug. 15 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
¢ Along 185th Street near Tonganoxie: $3,350 in tools were taken from a covered trailer overnight Thursday, according to a report with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Injury accidents
¢ A Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crew took one person to the hospital at 11 p.m. Friday after an accident in the 800 block of Tennessee Street. Additional details about the accident were unavailable.
¢ An 18-year-old Oskaloosa woman went to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a wreck near 19th and Missouri streets. The woman, Destiny C. Back, was riding without a seat belt in a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Misty D. Crook, 21, Lawrence, according to a report, when the car rear-ended a 1996 Ford Ranger driven by Lisa E. McCary, 38, Topeka. Crook was cited for inattentive driving, and Back was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
