The Pacifica Quartet, a group with a strong classical foundation and one of contemporary music’s most ardent advocates, will perform at 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Lied Center.

Distinguishing themselves with performances of the complete five-quartet cycle of Elliott Carter, the ensemble members-Sibbi Bernhardsson (violin), Simin Ganatra (violin), Masumi Per Rostad (viola) and Brandon Vamos (cello) have been hailed by critics as possessing “astonishing talent, energy and dedication.”

The quartet will play Mozart’s Quartet in C major, K. 465, Janácek’s Quartet No.2, Intimate Letters and Beethoven’s Quartet in E minor, Op. 59, No.2.
