The Lawrence Arts Commission is seeking proposals from artists for a work outside the new fire station at 2121 Wakarusa Drive.
The work, which carries a $38,000 commission, is part of the city's Percent for Art Program. It should "engage visitors and reflect the diverse energies and creative values of the Lawrence community," according to the request for proposals. The art likely will be located northeast of the station.
The initial proposal is due by Sept. 1, with an artist selected by November and the artwork installed in July. For full details and requirements, visit www. lawrenceartscommission.org.
