Snoop Dogg released on bail after fracas at airport

London – Snoop Dogg was released on bail Thursday after a fracas over access to a first-class lounge at Heathrow Airport, which injured seven police officers, his attorneys said.

The 34-year-old rapper was driven away from the airport’s police station, police said, while speaking on condition of anonymity in line with department policy. They did not give details of five other men arrested with him.

“Snoop has been released on bail,” said his attorney, Peter Binning. “He will return at a later date.”

Binning declined to reveal the amount of money posted for the rapper’s bail, and said that Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has not been charged with any offense.

London’s Metropolitan Police said officers responded late Wednesday to reports of a disturbance involving 30 people at British Airways’ first-class lounge.

When officers told the group they wouldn’t be allowed to board their flight, “a number of the group became abusive and pushed officers,” a police spokeswoman said on the force’s customary condition of anonymity.

Snoop and his party were denied entry into the lounge because some were flying first class while others were flying economy, said Richard Goodfellow, a spokesman for British Airways.

“They became very rude and abusive to our staff and we took the decision to … refuse them travel,” Goodfellow said.

The six men were arrested on charges of “violent disorder and affray” – or creating a brawl or disturbance – and spent the night at London police stations. Police said all those arrested were U.S. citizens in their 30s.

Actress Stone accepts libel damages from report

London – Sharon Stone has accepted an undisclosed sum in libel damages from a British newspaper that alleged she had left her 4-year-old son in a car while dining at a London restaurant.

Kirsty Howarth, an attorney for the owners of the Daily Mail, told a judge at London’s High Court on Thursday the newspaper now accepted that the allegation was untrue, and apologized to Stone for the distress and embarrassment it had caused.

Stone’s attorney, Rupert Grey, said the 48-year-old actress had agreed to accept an undisclosed sum in damages from the newspaper and planned to donate the money to charity.

The “Basic Instinct 2” star wasn’t present for the court hearing.

In an article in June, the Daily Mail alleged that Stone had left her 4-year-old son, Roan, asleep in a car with her driver for more than two hours outside The Ivy restaurant – a London celebrity hangout – while she dined with a “mystery male companion.”

The Daily Mail repeated the allegations in an article the next month, and they were picked up by other media outlets.

Grey said Stone could produce witnesses to confirm that her son had dined with her at the restaurant.

Jennifer Lopez on cover of Spanish-language magazine

New York – While Angelina Jolie tops People’s most beautiful issue, Jennifer Lopez graces the cover of the magazine’s Spanish-language version.

Lopez is on the cover of People En Espanol’s annual “50 Most Beautiful” issue, on newsstands Monday.

The 37-year-old actress-singer was also named as one of People’s 100 most beautiful people. While many fans await the birth of Jolie’s child with boyfriend Brad Pitt, Lopez isn’t currently planning a baby with husband Marc Anthony.

“That would be nice for sure,” she says. “I feel that will happen naturally when it does.”

People En Espanol’s list of Hispanic celebrities also includes Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes and Daddy Yankee.

Rosie O’Donnell to replace Meredith Vieira on ‘The View’

New York – Rosie O’Donnell is the latest to join the Katie Couric merry-go-round.

O’Donnell will take over Meredith Vieira’s slot on the talk show “The View,” according to a person close to the show who spoke on the condition of anonymity because “The View” wanted to make the announcement on today’s show.

Vieira, of course, is replacing Couric on the “Today” show once the spunky newscaster moves to CBS News.

ABC officials declined comment on the report Thursday.
