The Raven Bookstore will co-sponsor a reading and book signing with two Kansas authors, Nancy Pickard and Suzanne Arruda, at 7 p.m. May 2 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

Pickard is the author of a new mystery, “Virgin of the Small Plains,” and many other mysteries and books on writing. This is her first novel in many years to be set in Kansas. Arruda is the author of one mystery, “Mark of the Lion,” set in East Africa after World War I.
