Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police have arrested a 28-year-old Lawrence man suspected of using a stolen credit card to try to buy cartons of cigarettes at local convenience stores. The card was reported stolen in a burglary earlier this month of the Darryl Graves Law Office, 203 Lyon St.

¢ Lawrence Police on Monday seized a set of metal knuckles found in a 16-year-old student's backpack at Free State High School, 4700 Overland Drive. A school administrator had received an anonymous tip that the student had the weapon at school, police said.

¢ A 24-year-old Lawrence man was arrested late Wednesday for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to sell drugs, possession of marijuana and failure to pay a drug-tax stamp.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 19-year-old Kansas University student told police someone tried to break into her home early Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of New Hampshire Street. She told police she was taking a shower about 6:10 a.m. when she heard a noise and came out to find a window broken by her rear door. The door was off its hinges but was hanging by an interior chain, according to a report.

She told police she saw a man on the sidewalk who appeared to be between 40 and 50 years old and wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

Also early Wednesday morning, someone forced open the front door of an unattached garage nearby in the 1300 block of Rhode Island Street.

¢ An orange Kawasaki all-terrain vehicle valued at $5,800 was stolen between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday from an unlocked shed in the 1000 section of N. 1138 Road, according to a Douglas County Sheriff's office report.

¢ A 2004 Bombardier Trackster all-terrain vehicle valued at $7,000 was stolen between April 13 and 18 from a residence along Dempsey Road in Leavenworth County, according to a Leavenworth County Sheriff's office report.
