Chinese president opens U.S. visit

? Chinese President Hu Jintao put business first on his visit to the U.S. Hu was greeted by Starbucks Corp. Chairman Howard Schultz and later Tuesday met with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. He will tour a Boeing Co. commercial jet plant today.

Hu’s four-day U.S. tour comes at a time of substantial unease among American businesses, political leaders and the public about how China is using its new power. He’s meeting Thursday with President Bush about China’s currency and other trade policies, as well as its aggressive search for oil and its stance toward nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea.
