Chamber to honor provost, president

Two longtime leaders in higher education will be honored Friday by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.

David Shulenburger, provost of Kansas University, and Dan Lambert, president of Baker University, are retiring this year and will be given “Excellence in Education” awards from the chamber during a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Eldridge Hotel.

The awards will recognize their years of “exemplary service,” said Lavern Squier, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer.

“Shulenburger and Lambert are recognized as esteemed practitioners by their peers and by those who value the profession of educator,” Squier said. “The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is proud to emphasize the importance of education in our community by recognizing the invaluable contributions of these two individuals.”

Seating is limited and reserved for chamber members; cost is $20. Chamber members may register at www.lawrence chamber.com, or by calling 865-4483 by Tuesday.
