Ladd stars in 50-year saga

Get ready to get touched by an “Angel.” Cheryl Ladd (“Charlie’s Angels”) stars in the feel-good inspirational melodrama “Though None Go With Me” (8 p.m. today, Hallmark).

Based on a novel by Jerry B. Jenkins, “None” recounts five decades in the life of Elizabeth Leroy Bishop (Ladd), who dedicated her life to her marriage, her community and her Lord.

Bishop’s story unfolds in a series of flashbacks. She begins her narrative as her petulant and impatient granddaughter, Lisa (Lindy Newton), prepares to run off to California with her rocker boyfriend. She’s soon entranced by Bishop’s story, and if you enjoy old-fashioned tearjerkers, you will be, too.

Back in 1951, and a radiantly beautiful Bishop (Amy Grabow) chafes under small-town life. But things begin to perk up when Ben (Brad Rowe), a handsome young minister, comes to town. Will (David Norona), the nice boy next door, seems crestfallen at this turn of events.

l Fans of “The Da Vinci Code” should enjoy “The Gospel of Judas” (7 p.m. today, National Geographic), a two-hour special that combines historical speculation, biblical revisionism, forensic science and old-fashioned detective work.

As TV specials go, “The Gospel of Judas” is at least a half hour too long. But considering the manuscript spent centuries in a dusty cave and even rotted for a decade or two in a safe deposit box in a Hicksville, N.Y., savings bank, perhaps it has earned its two hours in the spotlight.
