Courthouse burglarized

City leaders not certain what was taken

The Municipal Court Building, 1006 N.H., was burglarized overnight Monday, but what was taken is unknown.

The city’s Municipal Court was burglarized overnight Monday, officials said, but city leaders say they don’t know exactly what was taken.

“We’ll be forthcoming when we know the information for sure,” City Manager Mike Wildgen said Tuesday.

Wildgen said that as far as he knew, there were no personal records, computers or files stolen. He said there didn’t appear to be a risk that it could lead to someone’s identity being stolen. He said the process of determining what was stolen could take a day or two.

Police responded to the building, 1006 N.H., shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday. Ward said there were no signs of forced entry.

“An individual opened up this morning and found some items missing and reported it to us,” said Sgt. Dan Ward, a police spokesman. “We don’t have exactly what was missing. It’s not determined yet.”

Ward said he didn’t have any more details to release on Tuesday afternoon because the officers who investigated hadn’t yet written their reports.

Crime-scene detectives remained at the building as late as 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. Municipal Court employees declined to talk about the incident.
