As a part of the Big XII Council on Black Student Government this week at Kansas University, the university's Black Student Union will sponsor a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. today in front of the Kansas Union.
It will feature a brief keynote address and the lighting of 29 candles to signify the date Hurricane Katrina hit. BSU also will raise funds for Red Cross today through Friday on Wescoe Beach.
The meeting is one of four annual meetings for members to discuss topics such as scholarships, community service and academic programs. The Big XII conference is set for Feb. 23-26 at Iowa State University.
