Would-be robber leaves empty-handed

A man armed with a knife early Wednesday attempted to rob the Walgreens Drug Store at 3421 W. Sixth St.

A woman employee at the store refused to comply with the would-be robber’s demand to turn over money and the suspect left, said Sgt. Dan Ward, Lawrence Police spokesman. The incident occurred about 12:30 a.m.

The suspect was described as a black male who was at least 25 years old. He had a thin build and was about 5 feet 9 inches tall.
