Solo tuba recital planned

John Stevens, a notable tubist and composer, will share his talents with Kansas University’s music and dance department during an October visit.

Stevens, who is visiting KU for the first time, will present a solo tuba recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. In addition, KU faculty artists and student performers will present a recital that showcases Stevens’ original works, featuring the Kansas Brass Quintet, the KU Tuba-Euphonium Consort and the Forzato Quartet, as well as Margaret Marco, associate professor of oboe, Edward Laut, professor of violoncello, and Michael Hall, assistant professor of trombone. That recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Both performances will be at Swarthout Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
