Lawrence scholar to discuss Japanese art

Internationally acclaimed Japanese art scholar Patricia Graham will speak at an Oct. 20 event at Charlecote in Kansas City, Mo.

Graham, a Lawrence resident, will discuss “The Exquisite Craftsmanship of Japanese Arts” at 6 p.m. at the gallery, 337 E. 55th St. Reservations are required for the free lecture; call (816) 444-4622 for seating.

This is part of a three-lecture series highlighting “Masterpieces of England, China and Japan,” an exhibit and sale that runs from Oct. 19 to Nov. 2.

The collection is a rare grouping of artwork and furniture from England and Asia, covering nearly 4,000 years, and is expected to attract art collectors and enthusiasts throughout the world.
