Czech Opera Prague coming to Lied Center

The Czech Opera Prague will visit Kansas University’s Lied Center in a performance of Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.”

Die Fledermaus (translated as “The Bat”) is the story of one man’s revenge against another who played a practical joke on him. The resulting comic deception and intrigue in the glamorous setting of a prince’s villa forms the background for some of the most beautiful and challenging music in opera. Composed in 1874 by Strauss, “Die Fledermaus” will be performed in German with English supertitles.

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Call 864-2787 for tickets, which are $38-$44 for the public, with discounts for senior citizens, KU faculty and staff, and students and children.
