Miami ? Hurricane Vince formed Sunday in the far eastern Atlantic, but the storm did not immediately threaten land, forecasters said.

Vince was the 11th hurricane to form this season, which is the second busiest on record.

At 5 p.m., EDT, Vince’s center was located about 535 miles east-southeast of the Azores and about 125 miles northwest of the Madeira Islands. It was moving northeast at about 6 mph with top sustained winds near 75 mph.

A gradual increase in forward speed was expected during the next 24 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Forecasters said Vince was mainly a hazard for marine interests in the far eastern Atlantic and is likely headed for Spain.
