Leave Talking
By Susan Carman
A chill breeze ruffles
sun-burnished leaves,
glazed with breath
of first frost.
Nature’s cadence
slows, as one
by one, they drift
earthward –
vermillion,
topaz,
bronze,
counterpoint melodies
in the fugue of fall.
