Law enforcement report

¢ Police arrested a 48-year-old Lawrence man and a 47-year-old Lawrence woman Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of trying to steal three pairs of jeans from Kohl’s, 3240 Iowa St. Police said that when a 19-year-old store employee approached the couple at 4:13 p.m. as they tried to leave the store, the woman struck the employee.

The employee then grabbed the bag, and the man tried to pull it away, police said.

¢ The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Baldwin-area woman’s report that someone shot and kicked her 2-year-old dachshund, “Hershey.” The woman found the dog with a small-caliber gunshot wound Sept. 21 in her front yard in the 1800 section of North 600 Road. The dog survived but suffered broken ribs and internal injuries.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 30-year-old Lawrence man reported a laptop computer and other computer equipment worth a total of $1,174 stolen between 7:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Monday from the 1900 block of East 19th Street.
