Eric Palmquist, a seventh-grader at Central Junior High School, has been named one of the top 10 winners in his age division for a national poetry contest.

Creative Communications, a Utah-based organization that supports language arts, will publish an anthology, “A Celebration of Young Poets,” that will feature Palmquist’s work. More information is available at the group’s Web site, www.poeticpower.com.

Palmquist was a sixth-grader at Langston Hughes School when he submitted work for the contest.
