Comedy auditions scheduled for theater

Lawrence Community Theatre will have auditions for “Beau Jest,” a comedy by James Sherman, at 7 p.m. Nov. 27-28 at the theater, 1501 N.H.

The comedy follows the story of a young Jewish woman who hires an actor to play her Jewish-doctor-boyfriend in an attempt to appease her traditional parents.

Roles are available for four men and two women, Sarah Goldman, her boyfriend Chris, her escort, Bob, her brother, Joel, and her mother and father, Miriam and Abe.

Charles Whitman will direct the show, with performances scheduled for late January and early February. Scripts may be checked out from the theater office with a $10 deposit.
