Law enforcement report

Douglas County Sheriff’s officers are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the northwest corner of the county late Wednesday afternoon.

A person described only as a male suffered a gunshot wound and was taken by helicopter ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital, said Lt. Kari Wempe, sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Officers and medical personnel were called to the 1900 section of East 175 Road, about 6 miles southwest of Lecompton, where they found the victim. No foul play is suspected, but an investigation into the circumstances was continuing, Wempe said.

No other details were released Wednesday night.

¢ A 25-year-old Lawrence man reported a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck valued at $5,000 stolen between 9:30 p.m. and 10:57 p.m. Tuesday from the 100 block of Arkansas Street.
