James Lawrence Powell will discuss his new book of geological history, “Grand Canyon: Solving Earth’s Grandest Puzzle,” at a book signing at 6 p.m. today at Oread Books in the Kansas Union.

Powell, executive director of the National Physical Science Consortium, will provide an account of the making of the Grand Canyon. He taught geology for 20 years at Oberlin College.
