Rain moving in today and tonight
Take your umbrella along today — you might not need it in the morning, but the Lawrence area will get about an inch of rain by Tuesday morning, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
“We’re going to have a gullywasher as we go through today and tonight, ” Schack said.
This morning, skies were becoming cloudy at 8 a.m., with the temperature 47 and a east 21-mph wind making the wind chill 38.
The temperature will top out at 50 degrees by noon today, she said. Then the rain will begin in the afternoon and last through the evening, Schack said The Lawrence area will get about an inch, while the Salina area is expected to get about 1.5 inches.
By 6 a.m. Tuesday, the temperature will be 42. But as the rain continues, cold air moves in and the temperature will fall to 39 by 6 p.m. Tuesday, Schack said. Winds will be from the east 15-20 mph.
The rain will continue through much of Tuesday, possibily changing over to wet snowflakes as the temperature drops Tuesday evening, Schack said.
Wednesday morning’s low will be 30, with the high reaching 49 Wednesday afternoon, under cloudy skies.
