Country club plays host to benefit auction
A silent auction at the Lawrence Country Club will raise funds for a child diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder.
The girl, Jazmen Fowler, 8, will be going to the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., with her mother, Rhonda Smith, of Lawrence. Smith works at the country club.
Jazmen, a student at Kennedy School, is now confined to a wheelchair and although she was once a top student in her class, she now is struggling to learn.
Items to be sold in the silent auction are:
l A catered dinner for 10 people at your home by Terry Schmidt between July 15 and Nov. 14. A $125 minimum bid will cover the cost of the food.
l A golf package for four people at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., between Sept. 1 and Nov. 1. Starting bid is $200.
A drawing also will be held for a two-day golf package for four people in Springfield, Mo.
Auction sheets are located by the lower lounge bar at the country club, 400 Country Club Terrace. Donations and bids should be made by Saturday. Winners will be determined at 5 p.m. that day.
