Lawrence Police said Wednesday that in the past 24 hours they handled:
¢ 285 calls
¢ 41 reports
¢ six burglaries
¢ three thefts
¢ eight noninjury accidents
¢ one injury accident
¢ A 43-year-old Lawrence woman told police a black Labrador broke free from a chain and bit her Sunday morning as she jogged near 19th Street and Barker Avenue. A police report said the dog would be euthanized and tested for rabies.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ A realty company suspects a Lawrence-based employee of embezzling $10,000 between September 2004 and June 2005, according to a report.
Roberts Realty Advisors Inc., based in Plano, Texas, owns a property-management business that runs apartments at 630 Mich., according to a report. An employee of the management business is suspected of stealing the money, police said.
The case remains under investigation.
¢ A 23-year-old Lawrence man reported stereo equipment including a $600 amplifier and a $500 set of speakers stolen between 10 p.m. Monday and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday from his vehicle in the 1400 block of East 24th Street.
¢ Someone pried open a storage door at the Baldwin Golf Assn., 1102 Main St., Baldwin, slashed five tires on mowing tractors and caused more than $1,000 in damage, according to a sheriff’s report. The incident happened between 10 a.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Monday.
