Lawrence Police said Tuesday that in the past 24 hours they handled:

¢ 253 calls

¢ 34 reports

¢ three burglaries

¢ two thefts

¢ four noninjury accidents

¢ A broken gas line stopped traffic for about an hour Tuesday on Sixth Street between Ohio and Louisiana Streets.

The leak happened about 12:30 p.m. Cars were re-routed during the lunch hour to either side of Sixth Street. Deputy Chief Mark Bradford of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical said the leak was caused by a construction crew. No one was evacuated, he said.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Two Kansas University students reported their moped scooters stolen between 12:30 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. Tuesday from the 900 block of Tennessee Street. The total value of the scooters was $2,183.
