Aniston ex to auction love letters on eBay
New York – One of Jennifer Aniston’s former flings is auctioning off letters, notes, pictures and other memorabilia from the “Friends” star.
Michael Baroni, a California lawyer who claims he had a summer romance in 1984 with Aniston, is selling keepsakes such as a makeshift birthday card she wrote on a piece of toilet paper and a childhood picture of the pair.
According to Baroni, their summer lovin’ – he was 16, she was 15 – turned into a longtime friendship until they lost contact in 1991, when Aniston’s showbiz career began to soar.
Aniston’s representative, Stephen Huvane, didn’t immediately return a call Monday from The Associated Press for comment.
“She was very fun and lively, a loving kind of person,” Baroni told the AP during a phone interview Friday. “I think the materials show an innocent look into someone I think is very endearing.”
Baroni’s auction begins July 29 on eBay with a $100,000 reserve. If the reserve is not met, the package of memorabilia will be withdrawn. Baroni wouldn’t comment on why he was auctioning off the items beyond citing “financial reasons.”
Photographer convicted in Cameron Diaz photos case
Los Angeles – A photographer who took topless pictures of Cameron Diaz before she became a star was convicted of forgery, attempted grand theft and perjury Monday for a scheme to sell the images back to the actress 11 years later for millions of dollars.
Photographer John Rutter, 42, faces up to six years in prison. Sentencing was set for Sept. 15.
Diaz was a 19-year-old aspiring model when the pictures were taken in 1992. She posed in leather boots and fishnet stockings in a warehouse for the shoot.
During the nearly two-week trial, Rutter told jurors he thought Diaz had signed a release form giving him ownership of the photos. He said he didn’t realize the signature was forged when he offered to sell the photos to Diaz for $3.5 million shortly before the 2003 release of “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”
Rutter told the jury he was simply giving Diaz “right of first refusal” before offering the photos to prospective buyers worldwide.
Fonda plans cross-country bus tour to share war views
Santa Fe, N.M. – Jane Fonda says she plans to take a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq.
“I can’t go into any detail except to say that it’s going to be pretty exciting,” said the 67-year-old actress during a weekend stop on a national tour promoting her book, “My Life So Far.”
Fonda, who has a home in Atlanta, said her tour in March will use a bus that runs on “vegetable oil.” She will be joined by families of Iraq war veterans and her daughter.
Prompted by a question from the audience, Fonda said war veterans had encouraged her to break her silence. “I’ve decided I’m coming out,” she said Saturday.
