Accidents
¢ A vehicle overturned Monday shortly after 5 p.m. on U.S. Highway 40 about 5 miles west of Lawrence near Douglas County Road 1029. Two people sustained minor injuries but were not transported by ambulance to a hospital, dispatchers said. The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident and were assisted at the scene by Douglas County Sheriff’s officers. No other details were available.
Burglaries and thefts
¢ Two 19-year-old men told police two unidentified suspects forced them to the ground and robbed them of $6 and a cell phone early Wednesday morning as they left an apartment the 1700 block of West 24th Street.
¢ Police arrested a 21-year-old Lawrence man and a 20-year-old Lawrence woman Friday morning after the woman allegedly tried to alter a $10 bill to look like a $100 bill and use it to buy water at Dillons, 3000 W. Sixth St. Shortly after a cashier reported the incident, police found the couple at the Virginia Inn, 2903 W. Sixth St., and recovered marijuana, narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The couple had a 10-month old child with them, and police arrested them on suspicion of child endangerment.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ A Lawrence man reported a 1996 Dodge Caravan valued at $5,000 stolen between 9:25 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Friday from the 4000 block of West Sixth Street.
¢ A 46-year-old Lawrence man reported $3,000 worth of Euro currency stolen between July 9 and Saturday from his home in the 1800 block of Illinois Street.
¢ A 20-year-old Lawrence man reported his 1999 Ford Escort valued at $5,000 stolen between midnight and 2 p.m. Saturday from the 1400 block of Apple Lane.
¢ A 20-year-old Kansas University student reported more than $2,100 in property stolen and damage to her vehicle in an auto burglary between midnight and 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Emery Road.
