Twenty-five area residents were selected in September to participate in the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lawrence program
After a two-day retreat concentrating on leadership skill-building, participants will practice those skills as they learn more about specific topics of community interest during the eight-month program. Additional one-day sessions in business, health and human services, arts, city, state and county government, education and civic responsibilities will prepare Leadership Lawrence alumni to introduce collaborative leadership skills in the workplace, as well as civic, and other organizations they are associated with.
Members of the Class of 2005 are Rhonda Birdsong, Jane Blocher, Kevin Boatright, Kim Bodensteiner, Jacqueline Bogner, Laura Hiebert Carbrey, Thomas Carignan, Ndeye Ceesay, Brad Chindamo, Sheryle D'Amico, Doug Gaumer, Kiersten Gens, Michele Johnson, Patrick Kelly, Barry Landon, James Lowe, Maria Martin, Pamela McDermott, Scott McMichael, Lynn Parman, Jeff Peterson, Doris Ricks, Joseph Ryan, Karen Schuyler and Lori Tapahonso.
The group will be recognized by the chamber April 29.
The Leadership Lawrence Program was established under the sponsorship of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce in 1982. The program's mission is to inspire and strengthen active leadership in thecommunity. The class is selected to include individuals from a broad cross-section of the community who are interested in community service and developing leadership skills.
