Lawrence Police said Thursday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:
- 278 calls
- 22 reports
- two burglaries
- five thefts
- two noninjury accident
- one injury accidents
- Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Albuquerque, N.M., for suspicion of aggravated assault and having an illegal weapon Wednesday. Lawrence Police Sgt. Dan Ward said police were called to the 100 block of Indian Avenue for a verbal altercation between two 18-year-old men. One of the men pulled out a knife and held it in a threatening manner, Ward said.
Burglaries and thefts reported
- A 29-year-old Lawrence woman reported that a 1993 white Mazda was stolen between Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of Locust. The vehicle is valued at $1,000.
