Accidents reported

  • A 13-year-old Baldwin girl was injured Wednesday after two vehicles collided shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Douglas County roads North 600 and East 1700 three miles north of Baldwin.

Emily Johnson was a passenger in a 2001 Buick driven by Alyson W. Johnson, 46, Baldwin. Emily Johnson was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

The Buick was northbound on East 1700 Road when it was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck that was eastbound on North 600 Road and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

The truck was driven by Joshua L. Hermeck, 20, Paola, the report said. He was not injured.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 1993 Toyota pickup truck was taken sometime Monday afternoon or night from the 400 block of Perry Street. A 50-year-old Lawrence woman filed a theft report. The truck was valued at $3,000.
